2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 Expected To Debut At The Geneva Show

Enthusiasts won’t have to wait that long to see the new Mercedes-AMG G63, apparently, as the model is believed to premiere at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, in early March.

Citing the Marketing Manager for the G-Class Ian James, AutoNews reports that the new AMG versions of the G-Class “are not going to be far away”, after they “have been wildly popular”.
Alongside the visual updates made to the exterior and cabin, chassis tweaks, and improved brakes, among others, the new Mercedes-AMG G63 will use the omnipresent 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The lump is capable of producing up to 612PS (604hp) and 850Nm (627lb-ft) of torque in the case of the new E63 S.

It’s unknown whether Mercedes-AMG will give the G63 that much power, though, or if it will be reserved for the possible range-topper G63 S. However, more than one AMG versions of the new G-Class are coming, and since the old G65 V12 probably won’t make a comeback, the ‘S’ seems like a good bet.

An AMG G53 is part of another scenario, after the German automaker launched the electrified ’53’ variants of the E-Class Coupe, E-Class Convertible, and CLS at the Detroit Auto Show, so we’ll just have to wait and see what they have in store.
