FCA Might Have Dropped Hints About A Hellcat-Powered Ram 1500 Rebel

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 went out of production over a decade ago but the unveiling of the 2019 Ram 1500 has stoked rumors of an all-new Hellcat model.

First noticed by Allpar, several press photos of the Ram 1500 Rebel's interior show the infotainment system clock reads 7:07. That might not seem like much on first glance but the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk have a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine that produces 707 hp (527 kW).

It would be easy to chalk this up as a coincidence but Allpar says several insiders have told them the company is working on a Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 which is based on the Rebel variant. Given FCA's love of odd teasers, it's possible that the 7:07 reading on the clock is an Easter egg that hints at an upcoming model.

Nothing is official but Ram hasn't been shy about its desire to offer a high-performance truck to battle the Ford F-150 Raptor. In 2016, the company introduced the Ram Rebel TRX concept which featured a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that developed 575 hp (428 kW). It was connected to a revised eight-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system which enabled the truck to easily hit speeds in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h).

The concept was also equipped with upgraded axles, a side-exiting exhaust, and 37-inch tires. Elsewhere, there was a revised suspension which gave the truck more than 13 inches of wheel travel.
