Long-Wheelbase Mercedes-Benz GLC Ready For China Debut

The China-only Mercedes GLC-L will reportedly soon enter the market, with a premium of roughly 15,000 yuan ($2,300) over the regular model.

These images from CarNewsChina and Autohome show a slightly larger car, whose wheelbase is said to have grown by 10 cm (3.93 in). You can spot the growth easily if you follow the roof line starting from the B-pillar.

Altogether, the 2018 Mercedes GLC-L measures 4,765 mm (15.6 ft) in length, 1,898 mm (6.2 ft) in width and 1,648 mm (5.4 ft) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,973 mm (9.7 ft). Its main rival will undoubtedly be the Audi Q5 L, whose wheelbase was stretched by 8.8 cm (3.47 in).

The long-wheelbase GLC will boast the same engine range as the regular model, meaning three variations of the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol unit, rated at 184 HP, 211 HP and 245 HP respectively. All units are mated to a nine-speed automatic and work alongside the automaker’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

Aside from the GLC and GLC-L, the Beijing-Benz joint venture is also responsible for producing the GLA, C-Class L and the E-Class L.
