Mercedes-AMG's Four-Door GT4 Sounds Marvelous

After testing it out on the roads of Germany last month, Mercedes-AMG have now taken their new GT4 to the Nurburgring.

Set to join the GT family as the brand's second bespoke model after the coupe and roadster versions of the GT, it truly sounds marvelous with the pedal to the metal, courtesy of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that sits under the long hood.

In its most potent form, which may receive the 'S' suffix, the Mercedes-AMG GT4 is expected to churn out 612PS (604hp) and 850Nm (627lb-ft) of torque, just like it does in the top-of-the-line E63. Naught to 100km/h (62mph) sprint time is unknown so far, but we could be looking at around 3 seconds.

Earlier sources suggested that the automaker could also launch it as a hybrid, combining a six-cylinder engine with an electric motor, in a more affordable version of the car.

As far as its exterior design goes, expect cues to be taken from both the concept car that debuted in Geneva, earlier this year, as well as the two-door GT family.

It's still too early to talk about an unveil date, but it should arrive at showrooms as early as the first half of next year.
