Tesla Model X Breezes Through The Infamous Moose Test

The Swedish moose test has claimed many victims over the years and has had a number of spectacular failures, like the Toyota Hilux.

So, if the test has seen failures from some of the world's leading automakers, how did Tesla fare with the all-electric Model X? The answer is, very well indeed.

The tests took place at 70 km/h, 72 km/h and 74km/h, and while the Model X knocked over a few cones, none of its wheels ever left the surface of the road, something hard to come by during the moose test. Clearly one of the reasons why the Tesla performed so well is that it has a very low center of gravity, as most of its weight is found in the floor-mounted batteries.

While we can't imagine many people being sold on the Model X solely because it passes the moose test with flying colors, owners can at least rest easy knowing that if they ever encounter an unexpected object in front of them, they can maneuver around it without fear of the SUV getting out of shape.
