BMW has a wide range of SUVs and crossovers in its lineup, but coming to top them all is the all-new X7.
Positioned above the new X5 and sharing the CLAR platform with the 5-Series and 7-Series models, the development of the Bavarian firm's upcoming flagship SUV continues on the Nurburgring.
The latest video show a fully camouflaged prototype being put to the test on the track. Despite its generous dimensions, which will allow for the use of three rows of seats, it seems quite agile.
Challenging the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS and Range Rover, the new BMW X7 will be powered by a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines. Joining the family later on will be a PHEV too, and coming to sit at the top of the range could be an M Performance model with a turbocharged V8
On the outside, it will be similar to the X5, albeit on a larger scale, with a flat-face front end and a boxy cabin. Inside, we expect it to remind more of the 7-Series than the X5, including the on-board tech and luxury features.
Before the German automaker pulls the covers off the new X7 next year, we could get an early look at the SUV through a near-production concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
