Upcoming Opel Insignia GSi Looks Good In Sports Tourer Form

Opel is out testing the wagon version of the range-topping GSi version of the Insignia free of camo, giving us a first look on the upcoming member of the series.

With the sedan version having already been revealed last week, we already know that power will come from a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine with 252hp (260PS) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque.

An eight-speed automatic will be the only transmission option while all four wheels will be responsible for getting the power down to the tarmac. The all-wheel drive system is pretty advanced, featuring torque vectoring for the rear axle and Opel claiming that understeer is “almost banished” from the Insignia GSi handling character.

The chassis is also updated with lower springs, adaptive dampers with an extra ‘Competition’ mode and bigger Brembo brakes. The optional 20-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Opel has been working on a GSi diesel version as well. With the sedan scheduled to debut in front of the public at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, it’s most certain that Opel will showcase the Sports Tourer version there as well.
