Mercedes-Benz’s All Electric EQ Family To Get A Bespoke Sedan

Electric Vehicles, Mercedes, Reports
The #Mercedes EQ range will include an all-electric sedan similar in size to the current C-Class.

Some reports indicated that Mercedes-Benz would simply electrify the C-Class However, C-Class chief engineer Christian Frueh recently confirmed to Autocar that this won’t be the case. Instead, a bespoke electric sedan will join the EQ range alongside the EQ A hatchback and EQ C SUV. In all likelihood, a large electric sedan will also make up part of the EQ range rather than an electric S-Class.

The plan for this all-electric EQ sedan forms part of Mercedes-Benz’s goal of dropping 10 new electric models by 2025. All of these vehicles will use the same Modular Electric Architecture (MRA) and are tipped to share design cues while being distinct from the brand’s hybrid and international combustion engine offerings.

The first all-electric model to launch from the EQ range will be the EQ C SUV. The vehicle will be roughly the same size as the GLC but adopt a design heavily influenced by the concept. Winter testing of the EQ C was recently completed in northern Sweden and by the time the SUV hits the road, it will have a range of up to 310 miles (500 km).
