The new Audi RS5 has a lot going for it but does it have what it takes to challenge a hooligan like the Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe?
Audi has replaced the naturally aspirated V8 for a smaller, twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that pumps out the exact same number of horses (444hp) but offers 125lb-ft more torque for a total of 442lb-ft.
The new German sports coupe sends its power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Tick the right option and you’ll also get a rear sport differential with real torque vectoring, along with a few more goodies like an RS Sport suspension and a 174mph top speed limiter. 0-62mph comes in 3.9 seconds.
In comparison, the Mercedes-AMG C63 S offers more cylinders, more power and torque and of course rear-wheel drive. It also weighs a bit more which should favour the Audi but AMG has proven that their C-Class is not an easy car to beat.
Motor Trend pits the two together in their latest Head 2 Head video, which also has Jethro Bovingdon making his first appearance as a host next to Jonny Lieberman.
